Sharan Collins MCouns(Hons), PG Dip, MBACP
I am a professionally qualified and experienced Psychodynamic Psychotherapist offering psychodynamic therapy and counselling to individuals and supervision to therapists and trainees. I have previously worked in the voluntary sector as a therapist and in the establishment and management of a counselling centre in the charity sector and in higher education as Lead Evening Counsellor at Edinburgh Napier University and Depute Director of Hope Park Counselling Centre. I am currently a trainer on the PG Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and Professional Programmes Director at the University of Edinburgh and the Chair of the Sutherland Trust which is a trust that exists to to stimulate and promote psychodynamic thinking in all aspects of life, personal and professional.
As part of my ongoing commitment to personal and professional development I have undertaken extensive continued professional development which has included Therapeutic Assessment; The Importance of Infancy and its Implications for Psychotherapy; The Nature of Trauma and Disassociation and Relational Psychotherapy.
I have a particular interest in the relationship between shame and trauma which is the focus of my PhD.
